Barbara Singer (this month's speaker) was born and raised in the Washington, DC area and earned her degree in Recreation from the University of Maryland. She spent 40 years in Carson City, Nevada, where she led the Recreation Division, dedicating her career to community engagement and wellness.
After moving to Lubbock two and a half years ago to be closer to her son and his family, Barbara quickly found that retirement wasn’t for her. She joined the Garrison Institute on Aging, where she now leads education and outreach programs.
Barbara’s passion for supporting individuals and families impacted by dementia is deeply personal. Having cared for multiple family members with dementia, she understands firsthand the challenges families face, especially as a long-distance caregiver. She is committed to ensuring others have access to the knowledge and resources she wishes she had during her own journey.
Barbara will share insights on the difference between normal aging and dementia, strategies for healthy aging, and the programs and services offered through the Garrison Institute on Aging.
We look forward to seeing you,
